We started making unique bags from upcycled truck tarps in 2015, in Nelson Lancashire. With experience of bag manufacturing through our long established sister brand, Carradice, we are constantly looking for ways to maximise resources and minimise waste. Truck tarps can be sourced in our region and provide a durable, waterproof fabric that would otherwise become landfill once its life on the road is over.
UPSO combines used truck tarps and fire hose with considered and functional design to create distinctive and unique bags with a stylish edge.
We like to keep it local! UPSO’s environmental impact is limited by sourcing most materials from nearby. Apart from washing the tarps in the next town, the whole process of creating our bags happens in our Nelson workshop, which uses solar energy to power the sewing machines. These are the solar panels on our roof! The bags are cut, sewn and individually photograhed ready for customer selection and despatch.
The UPSO range is designed for people who want a bag that is different and individual. Due to the varied previous lives of the truck tarps and the way they are selected and processed, no two bags are the same. As well as being given a unique reference number, each bag is signed by its maker.
On foot or wheels, UPSO owners are guaranteed a totally original bag.
